Just like Daddy!

Caedmon's Room!

Time to show another room of our house!! These pictures make me realize how much work my house needs! I miss all the colors at our old house. I've got to get some walls painted! I'm waiting to paint Caedmon's room until we do a big boy room cause I want to change up the colors!

This is the on the door to my little prince's room!

From the door looking in.  In the left corner is the valance that goes on the window. Haven't gotten around to hanging that yet!
Where my baby sleeps!   The painting is from a great friend of mine! I absolutely love it!
The closet.  The doors are usually open so he can get to his toys.
This corner needs some serious work!! The glider and armoire.
This is the start of what will hopefully be a fun wall with special things.  Chase's uncle made the cross on the left.  The green sign was Caedmon's first gift from the Workmon's.  The blue cross was a gift from his aunt Jana and the guardian angel plaque was a gift from his mamaw (Chase's mom)
This is Caedmon's first nursery at our old house.  I absolutely loved the walls in that room.  But it would have been a lot of work to duplicate if I want to change it in a year or so!
Thanks for stopping my and hanging out in Caedmon's room!  Head on over to Kelly's Korner to view more great children's rooms!

What happens when the boys have dinner

This is the face I was greeted with when I went to get Caedmon out of the car after he had dinner with his daddy and pops!

Allie Courtney Workmon

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is the birthday of one of my most favorite, closest, oldest and BESTEST friends!
Courtney is one of those friends everyone should have!  We've had so many fun memories, from our many, many roadtrips, to the best beach trips ever, to meeting for dinner in Tupelo in college.  I don't know where I'd be without this girl.  And now we are taking the journey of Motherhood together and it's a blast!  She is an AH-MAY-ZING mother and I learn so much from her.  She's got 2 of the cutest girls you will ever see and Caedmon just loves him some Workmon girls!
Court, I hope your birthday is the best yet!  Can't wait to hug your neck and squeeze those precious girls!
LOVEYOUSOMUCH!

Crunching Numbers

In our house, I'm the budgeter, the keeper of finances.  Its not always a fun job and if I weren't so good at it, I would gladly hand it over to Chase.  We both know, however, that wouldn't work.
Every few months or so, I decide to look over our budget and see how things are going.  And every time I get stressed out, feel stretched thin, and wonder how we do it.
Then I am reminded of 2 things.  First, something my mother-in-law always reminds me.  She has often told me "you can sit down and try to add it all up but you are always going to end up in the red.  But somehow, God pulls you through and you never go without."  Its so true.  I have to do the adding up every so often just to keep us in check.  But I also realize that no bill has gone unpaid, we have never gone hungry, and we have an amazing roof over our heads.
Second, and most important, MY GOD PROVIDES.  He knows every need and never fails to meet it.  Sometimes He provides the daily bread and sometimes He provides a feast, but whatever it is, He ALWAYS provides!

Dining Room Time!

Time for the dining room edition of Kelly's home tour!

Our dining room is BLAH, but I thought I'd share pictures anyway!

This is the the view to the left of the front door.  That light fixture was originally brass but we spray painted it for a cheap facelift!  The kitchen table was a hand-me-down from Chase's parents.  While it has served us well and we appreciate it very much, we are in need of something new!  After Chase's uncle builds our entertainment center, we have plans for a square table to go here.  Something like this, only bigger, to seat 8.

This is the ceiling. I love the ceilings in our house!

I've had this bakers rack since high school!  My parents got it for me at an antique store and I've always loved it.   Back then, the wine rack part held beanie babies.  Since we aren't wine drinkers, I've been trying to come up with something creative to keep in the wine rack. Any ideas?!

One of my nearest and dearest friends used the bakers rack while were in college and I had no place for it.  She added the glass to this shelf and made it much more functional!

So that's my boring dining room!  I'll post pictures when I spruce it up some!  I might need to enlist my martha stewart friend to come help me!

Busy Week!!!

My nanny was in town this past week to love on her great-grandson!  We had a blast!  Monday and Tuesday we just piddled around town.  We made our trip to Wal-Mart we always make on Tuesday.  She works for wal-mart so she always takes my sister and me to stock up on stuff and use her discount!

Wednesday we went out to a place in Grand Bay that sells refinished furniture, most distressed white pieces.  I got a cute shelf, a frame, and a wood box/tray for $8.  Love a good deal!

Thursday we headed to the Mobile Zoo way out in Wilmer.  I had heard we had one so we decided to venture that way.  It was pretty interesting and Caedmon was the quietest he's ever been.  He wanted to ride in his stroller and didn't utter a word the whole time we were there. Well, except when he got down around the baboons and saw the baboon had a ball.  Balls are his FAVORITE thing in the whole world, so he of course thought he needed that one.

Thursday night was a big night for our family. Caedmon spent his first night away from us!   He spent the night with my parents and nanny.  He did great and will be back again soon for another sleepover!

Friday morning we took Caedmon to the Estuarium at the Sea Lab on Dauphin Island.  Caedmon loved looking at the fish and then walking out on the boardwalk.

Friday night Chase and I left Caedmon with my nanny while we went to the SUGARLAND concert.  We had a BLAST!!  They are so much fun and worth every penny spent.  We definitely felt old though when we were both yawning by 9 o'clock!

Saturday morning, Nanny and I got up and went yardsaling!  Love me some good yardsales.  I got an end table that I'm going to refinish, a whole bag of bangle bracelets, a cute black dress, a black wrist purse and an outfit for Caedmon all for under $12!  I wore my dress to church this morning and got of compliments...a dollar well spent! After Caedmon's nap, we headed down to the outlets for some more shopping.  Good deals were found there as well!   After a little shopping, we met Roddy, Chase and my mom at LuLu's for some yummy food!  Then us ladies headed back to finish the shopping while the guys headed back to mobile to bed!

After a very busy week, I took a much needed afternoon nap!!

Treasure

Tonight is Caedmon's first overnight trip to the grandparents.  I'm certain it has been easier for him than me.  I miss him like crazy and hate that I can't go check on him before I go to bed!  We've never been apart overnight! I've looked forward to this, and will certainly enjoy it more each time he stays out, but it's still hard the first time!

It's amazing how much joy a little chunk of love can bring to your life.  One of my most favorite things is to watch Caedmon in church.  I love when the music starts playing and he raises his hands in worship.  I love when he dances for joy at the feet of his Father.  I love when he gets the most precious grin on his face as he says "Yahweh"*.  He truly is my treasure on this earth.

Some may think that they can't understand things and that they are just mimicking us in church.  While in part they are mimicking us, I think they are way more aware than most think.  Jesus said "...unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven."  Children have no inhibitions, they don't worry what others think.  They can dance for joy and lift their chunky little arms up and not care what anyone thinks.  If only all of us were more like him.  I remember when I was scared to raise my hands in worship.  I was overcome with admiration for my Father and wanted nothing more than to raise my hands up to Him, yet I was too worried that others would see me.  I pray that Caedmon never feels that.  That he will always feel freedom to dance at the feet of the King.

*We almost exclusively use Yahweh, instead of God, at our church.  It is His name in Hebrew.  If you have any questions about that, message me.  I may use God or Yahweh in any of my posts, so I wanted to touch on that!

All Gone

I'm mainly writing this post for myself, and Caedmon one day.

These last few days have been very bittersweet.   It appears our nursing days are over.  I remember back in the beginning, when there were days we stayed on the couch in our pjs all day, when I thought there was no way I could nurse him for a year.  I was bound and determined to stick it out though, and when he was around 3 months it began to be a little easier. He finally could make it 3 hours and would only nurse for 10-15 minutes, as opposed to nursing every 2 hours for 45 minutes.  When it started getting close to his 1st birthday, I knew neither one of us were ready to wean completely.  He was nursing 4 times a day:early morning, after each nap, and before bed.  When he went down to one nap, we went down to 3 times a day.  We cut out the after-nap nursing around 14 months.  Then when we were living with Chase's parents, he cut out the early morning one all on his own.  So it has just been our nighttime thing for a couple of months now.  And boy did my kid love his Boppy...which meant time to nurse!  After bath, he'd run out yelling "boo-pie" for boppy.   Until this weekend.  Saturday night,  he nursed on one side and then wanted to play.  He finally nursed on the other side before falling asleep, but I knew that the end was near.  My little boy was growing up!  Last night after bath, I sat on the couch and grabbed the boppy. He was up on the couch running from end to end.  I tried to grab him to nurse and he looked at me with his sweet grin and said "boo-pie! all gone!" and that was it.   A very bittersweet moment!
On one hand, it's fabulous because  I don't have to worry about how to wean.  I was getting kinda worried that we would have a rough time since he was so attached.
On the other hand, MY LITTLE BOY IS GROWING UP!!!!

Fun Mothers Day Surprise!

I've had a wonderful mothers day!  My hubby made me homemade strawberry muffins and got me bee-yoo-ti-ful roses.  I'm not a fan of regular roses, but these are a beautiful pale pink with magenta tips.  He also bought me 3 super cute shirts from forever 21! And a mini-pedicure set that he promises to use on my mommy feet!
When I dropped Caedmon off at nursery this morning, the nursery director handed me a disc and told me that her daughter had snapped some pictures of the kids in nursery last week, edited them, and made us a disc.  What a sweet, sweet surprise!  Oh, and all of us moms also got a gerber daisy at church as well!  My sister, Alexia, was helping hand them out, so she took Caedmon back there with her and let him bring me mine.  He had the sweetest smile on his face when he handed it to me. I am so blessed!

Show Us Where You Live-Living Room Edition

I'm participating in Show Us Where You Live Friday- courtesy of Kelly
My living room, (like the rest of my house), is a work in progress!

This is our new flatscreen tv on a chest my parents got me when I was in college.  We have a entertainment center in design for that corner, but for now the chest is working.
This is the view looking from the hallway on Caedmons side of the house.
These are some of my favorite pieces. I LOVE my old window.  It will eventually get hung on the wall, but it is really heavy and Chase hasn't gotten around to it yet.  Chase's dad flips houses and I found this outside one of his first houses he did.  He was just going to throw it away so I snagged it.  The two picture frames on each side are my favorite frames ever!  A lady in Mississippi makes them and I just found her on etsy!
She also made this cross, another favorite piece!

This is the view from the front door.

This is Caedmon's play area.  We just bought the white shelf unit and I'm still looking for baskets for it.  You can't really see it, but his pottery barn chair with his name on it is behind the ball pit.  That was money well spent!  He loves his chair!

I almost forgot one of my favorite parts...the ceiling!!
I have no idea why it is underlining my text above some of my pictures.  I'm certain it is something with Html but don't know what.  How can I fix that?!

facelift

I've given my blog a little facelift! It's a work in progress, but it shall do for tonight. I'm tired and can't make any more color/font/picture choices!

Blog Template?

Ok, I'm ready for a cute background? But where do I start?!?! Anybody have a good place to find cute templates??? I'm sure I could search around and find something, but I'd rather have a tried and true site! HELP!!!

Show Us Where You Live-Kitchen Edition

I came across Kelly's Korner right after Baby Harper was born. I've been a blog stalker since I first read it and love seeing God's little miracle on her page!
She's started "Show Us Where You Live", and since I have yet to post pics of the new house, I thought this would be a great way! Plus, I only have to have one area of the house clean at a time ;-).
This is the view from our living area into the kitchen. Painting the brass hardware is on our list of projects!

These are the pictures on my fridge. I love a fridge full of pictures and the package of magnet frames is still one of my favorite purchases.

Can you guess who put that dish towel on display?!

Another, more well-lit, view of the kitchen.

Our old kitchen was a shot-gun kitchen with very few cabinets and even fewer drawers, so we LOVE this kitchen!

Riding in cars Playing at the park with boys!

Caedmon and I met our best buds, "Jessa" and Braydon, at the park yesterday morning. Trying to get a picture of those two at the same time is next to impossible, yet alone one where they are looking. They are both on-the-go nonstop and love playing together! I can't wait til they are a little older and don't need mommy following close behind to prevent tumbles down stairs/slides!

$12 well-spent!

After seeing this toy on this blog, I just had to go out and buy it for Caedmon!
We Chase inflated it this afternoon and after chowing down on some pizza with friends, we took Caedmon and his buddy Braydon out to play. They Caedmon had a BLAST. Braydon, well....not so much! He was standing a little too close when Chase turned it on and I think it was a shock of cold water to the back. He screamed NO and took off! Caedmon, on the other hand, thought it was great.
We'll definitely be using this to cool off on our hot, humid, miserable warm summer days.
