though around week 6 of this pregnancy, i sure felt like i had! i'm feeling MUCH better, relatively speaking! (we are expecting baby 2, due on or around april 21st, for those who didn't know.)
caedmon is growing and learning so much lately!! i just love the way he talks and thinks.
"mommy, what do you have?"
"i have a cracker. would you like one?"
"no thank you, i do not want a cracker. i would just like my pancake please"
oh and his new "game" he loves to play is "which hand" or "which one hand?" as he calls it. if you pick the right (correct) hand, he just looks at you and holds the other hand out further. it is the cutest thing and so funny!
at 2.75 his favorite movies are toy story, curious george, and veggie tales (still!). he has buzz, woody, bullseye, jesse, slinky and rex. and they all have to be in his crib at night. along with monkey, mickey, hermie, barney, his guitar, numerous books, toy story sleeping bag, pillow, and other choice toys of the night. how he sleeps i don't know. i try to clean stuff out when he's not there, but he inevitably asks for everything one by one til its all back in there! we are planning on moving him to a big boy bed around his birthday, so hopefully that will give him more room to sleep!
at 2.75, our chunky monkey is about 34 pounds. he's wearing 2t, but i know we'll be moving to 3t before long. we are working on potty training. he's doing great, so i think when we actually devote some time to it, he'll be completely trained in no time! he still takes awesome 2-3 hour naps and sleeps great at night, when he FINALLY goes to sleep, sometime between 10&11, sleeping til around 8:30-9.
at 2.75 he is a daddy's boy, no doubt. we have a blast together and he's my sweet baby during the day, but when daddy is home, i might as well not exist. he tells me to go watch tv in my room!
at 2.75, he is such a light in our life. we love him to pieces and he keeps us laughing every day! i can't wait to see him as a big brother!!!!

sweet sweet boy
every month since caedmon was 3 months, i have found myself saying "this is my favoritemonth." (months 1-3 were hard and most definitely not my favorite months)
but this is definitely my favorite so far. i love watching his little mind work and hearing the things he comes up with. i could watch that little face all day (if it weren't for laundry-which is apparently my favorite hobby since i spend so much time on it).
caedmon had pink eye last week and this week hand-foot-mouth...we think-he's had fever but rash hasn't shown up yet...but that's what he was exposed to, so that is what we are assuming. he's been a pretty good sport about all the olive leaf, garlic and silver biotics i've been filling him with. he has been such a good sport, especially with the pink eye (which i have to rave on silver biotics...cleared that up within 48 hours but made 85% difference in less than 24!) he woke up one morning afternoon, noon to be exact, with both eyes completely crusted together. i walk in his room to find him just sitting in his crib, eyes closed, just patiently waiting on me. "caedmon, do you need mommy to clean your eyes?" "YEP" and feels for the crib, stands up and reaches for me. i sat him on the sink and started cleaning with warm water and as he could open them little by little he'd say "i can see you mom! i can see you!" and when he got one eye open completely he said "i did it!" so sweet. i tear up just thinking about how sweet he was in what could have been a terrifying moment for a 2 year old (or anyone for that matter, i think i might freak out if i woke up and couldn't open my eyes.) i love that kid!
some cute conversations we've had lately:
c: "hey mama, are you kiddin' me?"
me: "no, are you kiddin' me?"
c: "no, i not kiddin you!"
when i walked into his room one morning:
c: "is that mama? yep that looks just like mama! is that daddy? NO, that doesn't look like daddy!"
this morning we were talking to daddy on the phone and wherever he was was really windy:
me: "are you in a tornado?"
c: "no he's not a tomato, mommy, he's a BOY!"
and what's a post without pictures of the boy everyone comes to read about?!
this time last year. my favorite face.
my silly boy who does not like to cooperate for the camera.
chef caedmon! he much prefers "fixin" his kitchen over cooking!

out on the river!
we took caedmon out on the boat for the first time (since he was in my tummy)! he loved it!
waiting to get on the boat!
eating "chee-pos" with mommy
chillin' with daddy. such a cool dude.
when we parked the boat in the cove, caedmon looked out at the trees and said "i'm close to the jungle!
we tubed, wakeboarded, kneeboarded, and just enjoyed floating in the still water. well, i only participated in the tubing and floating, but chase and jana did great on both boards. it was my first time to tube and i love it! caedmon loved watching us. we ate lunch on the boat and then headed in for naptime. caedmon was snuggling up with me on the boat, asking
"can i lay down?" needless to say, he took a great nap!

daddy's day
i have the best daddy.
we snuggle on the couch and watch "nickey mouse"
sometimes i let him watch a daddy show.
but not often.
daddy is my favorite.
i tell mommy everyday "you're not daddy"
just making sure she knows.
i love her.
but she's not daddy.
i couldn't have asked for a better daddy.
god sure is good.
daddy teaches me that too.
love you daddy!

copper top
last tuesday morning, 6/15, i woke up and realized our sweet dog, copper, wasn't home. he is master houdini and is always out roaming the neighborhood, so while it wasn't completely out of the ordinary, i was a bit worried. when i got home at 11:45 from the grocery store and he still wasn't home, i knew something was wrong. we put up signs that afternoon, chase rode around all wednesday afternoon calling for him and looking for him. we put more signs up wednesday night and thursday morning chase got a call that we didn't want to get. i don't even know how to type the words, so i'm not going to. it was like a losing a family member. we got him about a month after we got married and he was our first "child". i've been putting off this post, but i know i will want to have something to look back on. so here's a letter to my sweet boy, in hopes of bringing some closure.

sweet copper,
thank you for 3.5 wonderful years. you were the best dog a family could ask for. i remember when my mom called and asked if i wanted a dog because you had showed up at a friend of her's house. my first response was "no!" but she talked about how sweet you were, that you were house trained (big selling point) and you needed a home. she said you were a hound and i just had to name you copper, because i love in "fox and the hound" where the dog says "my name's copper and i'm a hound dog!"
we had to wait several weeks for you, because you had been to the haven and had to get fixed before you could come home. granddad picked you up for us and brought you home because chase had to work that night. i remember when i got you in the house and it was just me and you. you sat in front of the fire place and i sat on the couch and we looked at each other like "well now what am i going to do with you?" but it didn't take long for you to nuzzle your way into my heart and become a part of the family.
you were the first one who knew i was pregnant with caedmon. when i saw those 2 pink lines, i grabbed you, hugged you, and took you on a walk in the fresh spring air. then i called chase. when caedmon came along, you were amazing. you were like a big brother, always watching out for him, letting me know if he needed something. if he was crying in his room and i wasn't running that way, you would pace up and down the hall wimpering for me to come see what he needed.
when caedmon was about 8 months old and moving around well, i left you two in the living room to go get something out of my bedroom. i heard the faintest wimper coming from the living room so i ran down the hall. caedmon had climbed on your back like you were a horse. when you saw me, you ever so gently rose up on your front legs, sliding him down onto the floor. it was the sweetest thing. you didn't want him on your back, but there was no way you were dumping him off without me seeing what happened.
you weren't perfect by any means, but you were beyond perfect for us. you were stubborn and hard headed. but you fit right in. you listened better than caedmon most days. when we would leave, we always asked "cop, you wanna go out back or in your kennel?" and you always made your choice, mostly the kennel on hot and cold days and out back during the mild weather. most of the time if you saw us getting ready to go, you just headed straight to your kennel.
everyone around knew you and loved you. at our first house, the neighbors would let you in their house to hang out all the time. if we couldn't find you, you were usually hanging out inside someone's house.
you will be missed sweet boy. you weren't a pet or a friend, you were a member of the family and you will be missed as such. i'm so thankful we had you, even if it was for a much shorter time than i imagined.
we love you cop cop.

life with a toddler
**i realize i have yet to finish my disney world posts. those pictures are on chase's computer, so it will have to wait til another day. however, i couldn't go another day without breaking my blogging hiatus.**
i just love all the things my caedmonster comes up with. this is by far my most favorite age (albeit the most challenging one as well.)
recent "caedmonisms":
"mommy, you see that moon? it's crazy!"
me: "caedmon, where's your nose?"
c: "right here beside my mouf!"
me: "where's your ear?"
c: "right here beside my hair!"
me: "where's your eye?"
c: "right here beside my nother eye"
me: "ouch my feet hurt."
c: "you feet hurting? you need flip flops? you got your flip flops?"
a few weeks ago, my sister was carrying caedmon down some stairs and slipped on the last one. she skinned her knee pretty bad and caedmon's scalp grazed the ground (but was barely scraped). he woke up the next morning saying "tia and caedmon fell down and tia got a red bobo!" he was so worried about her "red bobo".
